forth and last day in Italy
This day started at 5am, after some delay getting to our bus we left Rome on a 4 hour bus ride to the port of Naples. The drive was long but the countryside of Italy was beautiful.
Along the way we passed by Monte casino, where their was a 9 month
long battle in World War II. We finally arrived at the port of Naples shortly
before 11am and just before the boat left. We had to run to catch the boat.
We crossed the Tiberian Sea on a one-hour boat ride in stormy seas. But the
weather cleared just as we arrived. So far this was the most beautiful place
we had been to on the whole trip.
We got off the hydrofoil and boarded another boat that took us around
the 12 square km island. Then we packed our selves into a tiny bus that took
us up the 1000 ft tall cliff so that we could get a better view of the island.
I did not care for the ride up the narrow streets and at times we inches from
the edge of the cliff. But I must say the drive was worth it and we had a spectacular
view, the best view of the whole trip. After a really bad lunch we left the
island at 5pm and did not get back to Rome until midnight. The next morning,
at 5am we would start our 25-hour trip back to Jerseyville.
