I don’t know if you can call Global warming
an industry or not. It does not produce anything, it does not
affect any thing, and so far it has not proven any thing about
our climate and weather. But our government and other governments
around the world spend several billion dollars on scientific research
every year.
It is a industry in that it pays the salaries of thousands of
scientist from all over the world. It funds entire research departments
for large universities. So I guess you could call it a scholarly
industry. So what do we get for this money? Well if you are a
scientist or a researcher you can study the atmosphere in great
detail. Maybe that will allow meteorologist to better predict
big storms, or drought before it happens. That would be a good
thing!
So what’s wrong with that? Well the problem is that nobody
wants to spend money on climate research if there is nothing wrong
with the climate. So researchers who publish alarming data about
the earth’s climate receive larger and larger grants for
their research. It does not pay to predict rosy weather.
In the 1970s many scientist were predicting the earth was slowly
dipping into another ice age. But it was going to take thousands
of years for it to happen. This was not a pressing issue; we had
plenty of time to figure out what we would do when this happens.
Then in the 1980s scientist discovered a whole in the ozone at
the South Pole. That was alarming news. Did human neglect create
this whole or was it always there? No body new so it made since
to spend money on this. After all we did not want to go extinct
like the dinosaurs.
Then after it became a hot button political issues
were one political party could beat up another political party
the global climate industry became even more lucrative.
Soon after many other ambitious researchers jumped on the bandwagon
that was called global warming. Through out the 1990s, and early
2000s one alarming report after another was published and more
and more money was spent on its research.
I have noticed lately that some researchers are not calling it
Global warming anymore. They call it Climate change now. That
way they can hedge their bets. If the weather gets to cold or
to hot they can they can claim that their research predicted it.
The question that I have and that many others are asking. Is
this money being spent to predict or detect climate change, or
is it an attempt to control the global weather? Weather control,
the ultimate weapon of power.
