On Fox news; Glenn Beck has a very popular show were he attempts
to dumb down complex issues of the day and explains them to his
audience in as simple of a way as possible. But on this day his
guest speaker David Buckner turns white as a ghost and faints
on the set. Beck does make a halfhearted attempt to catch him
but to no avail, and Buckner went down fast. Take a look!
In case you have been living on a deserted island some were or
are technically challenged you may have noticed the rise of social
networks in the last couple of years or so. These networks allow
users to easily communicate, share photos, video and news to large
or small groups of friends from all over the world.
The biggest networking site in the world is Facebook. Any one
who is over the age of 13 and has a valid e-mail address is allowed
to join the network. However several countries have blocked accesses
to the social networking site. China, Vietnam, and Iran are just
a few of the countries that do not allow their citizens to join
the network. The network is also banned from many places of work
to discourage employees from wasting time using the service.
The genesis for Facebook was created back in 2003 by Mark Zuckerberg
in his sophomore year of college, along with his friends and roommates
Chris Hughes and Dustin Moskovits. Zuckerberg created it as a
way for his fellow Harvard classmates to get to know and meet
each other.
But after Harvard administrators found out about it. It was quickly
shut down. Zuckerberg was charged and faced expulsion for breach
of privacy. However charges were later dropped.
In 2004 Zuckerberg recreated the face book and in 2005 he opened
it up to high schools around the country. Then in 2006 he opened
it up to the general public.
In 2007 concerns were raised about how secure the user information
was on the Facebook network, and who owned the information that
is uploaded to the Facebook server. Later face book settled a
lawsuit regarding claims over source code and intellectual property.
The site has also been involved in controversy over the sale of
information.
In October of 2007 Facebook sold a 1.6% share of the company to
Microsoft for $240 million. Recently there have been reports that
Facebook is proposing an initial public offering (IPO). But Zuckerberg
stresses that it will not be for a few more years and that the
company is in no need of additional capital. Also some analysts
fear the Facebook IPO might be a particularly week investment.
It amazes me sometimes what I see on Facebook.
Whether you are complaining about a co-worker, or talking about
a friend or relative, you must be aware that once you send it
up to the internet you never know who will end up seeing it years
down the road. Be careful what you do and say on line. It is just
like speaking in public. Once the words fly out of you mouth you
cant take them back. 22 year old Ashley Johnson found that out
the hard way.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A North Carolina waitress is out of a
job after griping on her Facebook page about the $5 tip she got
from a couple who sat at their table for three hours. The waitress
says the customers kept her at work an hour after she was supposed
to clock out.
The Charlotte Observer reported Monday that 22-year-old Ashley
Johnson felt slighted after waiting on the couple at Brixx Pizza.
So she blasted the couple on Facebook, calling them cheap and
mentioning the restaurant by name.
Brixx officials told Johnson a couple of days later that she was
being fired because she violated a company policy banning workers
from speaking disparagingly about customers and casting the restaurant
in a bad light on a social network.
Johnson says she has apologized to Brixx and is looking for a
new job.
Do you remember Michaele and Tereq salahi. They
are the white house party crashers who gained fame and money from
crashing the white house state dinner for the prime minister of
India last November.
Well it turns out that they were at it again. President Obama
hosted his second state dinner for the president of Mexico last
Wednesday night. And guess who got caught trying to slip in the
back gate. Yep you guessed it. It was the Salahi’s. The
same couple who insisted that they were not party crashers, and
that it was all a big misunderstanding.
The first time they crashed the white house state dinner it was
amusing and somewhat entertaining. It also put the spotlight on
some security flaws that needed to be fixed. But this time it
was nothing more than a stunt to gain more easy money, and a desperate
attempt to grasp for the fleeting status of celebrity.
