The fisher house program is a unique privet-public
partnership that supports wounded veterans and their family during
what can be a long and painful rehabilitation.
The fisher house provides housing that is specially
equipped for the needs of wounded veterans. It also provides living
accommodations for their family members who want to be close in
supporting their husbands, wives, sons, and daughters.
Mushroom season started late and ended early in western Illinois
this year.
Mushroom hunters reported low yields under cool
dry conditions. In resent years the morel mushroom was harvested
in abundant quantity’s do to wetter than usual spring weather.
However this years spring weather has been mild and dry through
out most of the mushroom harvesting season which lasts from early
April through to the beginning of may.Usually 4 to 6 weeks. Plus
another hardship for the mushroom hunter agine this year was dealing
with the annoying buffalo gnats, which were out in full force.
If you did not get to eat any of the tasty morel mushrooms this
spring, wait for the zucchini or egg plants to be harvested out
of the summer gardens. When they are prepared, and fried just
like you do a mushroom they taste remarkably the same.
Thieves steel hearse, leaves note-telling police were they could
find the body.
Airport security at Lambert in St. Louis Mo.
A funeral home in Cleveland Ohio was broken into
last Wednesday night. Thieves took computer equipment, and other
valuable items then stole the funeral homes hearse so that they
could transport all of the stolen equipment.
However they did not check to see if the hearse
was occupied. Unbeknownst to the thieves a dead body was in the
back of the hearse when they left.
Later police found the abandoned hearse, and in it was a note
telling them were they could find the corpse.
Police found the woman’s body, in a bag and
on a gurney, at the intersection specified in the note.
Funeral director Jim Murphy says the corpse was
unharmed, and was scheduled to be cremated soon.
The Greenfield Crematory has apologized to the family;
it says that it was not unusual for the body to be left in its
vehicle, which was locked inside the building.
Recently I traveled to Las Vegas for a weekend get
away, and to meet with some old friends, and yes when I say old
I do mean old. We had a good time, won a little money, and lost
a lot more. But it was a good trip.
Whenever I travel I find it interesting and a little bit of a
hassle to go through airport security. It had been 2 years since
the last time I flew on a airplane, and I must say I was impress
with security at Lambert airport in St. Louis. The security guards
were attentive, professional, and polite. They looked like they
really new what they were doing.
It wasn’t like that 2 years ago. When I traveled to Florida
in February of 2008 the security lines was long and slow, the
security guards looked like they hated their job, and many of
them were un motivated to help or do any thing more than they
had to do.
As bad as that was it was still a lot better than it was before
September 11th 2001. Back before the war on terrorism many airport
security guards were completely unmotivated and some times you
would even catch one asleep.
I am glad to see that it is not like that any more. The TSA (Transportation
security administration) has really got their stuff together.
If the security at other airports is as good as Lambert airport
in St. Louis Mo. then I do feel that the airplanes traveling overhead
are safe and secure. Good job TSA in St. Louis.
