Cockpit
view of a air plane landing on the shortest commercial runway
in the world.
Mall Shark, Mall Shark, Look out!
Featured Video Presentation
Enjoy a cockpit view of landing at one of the
shortest commercial airstrips in the world: Saba's volcanic mini-396
meter runway at Yrasquin Airport. At the end of the runway there
is a 300 meter cliff that falls off into the ocean.
Saba island located east of Porto Rico in the Netherlands
Antilles. It is a small volcanic island with less than 1500 people
living on it.
Saba island was discovered by Christopher Columbus
on November 13, 1493 but he did not risk a landing because of
the islands perilously rocky shores.
In 1632 a group of shipwrecked Englishmen lived
on the island until rescued. And in the 17th and 18th century
Caribbean pirates used it as a hide out.
Because of the jagged cliffs surrounding the island
the easiest way to get to Saba island today is by air. The air
port on Saba island is the shortest commercial runway in the world,
and because of that only 3 kinds of commercial air planes can
attempt the landing there.
A shopping mall in Dubai has a 2.6 million gallon fish tank with
glass tunnels constructed under it so shoppers and tourists can
walk through and see the fish up close. But this week it sprang
a leek and every body was running for their lives. But don’t
worry no body got hurt. The crack was repaired and none of the
hundreds of man eating sharks never got out.
A rare Van Gogh painting discovered in the Netherlands
Space Boys part 2
....This image released by Museum de Fundatie,
Zwolle, Netherlands, on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, shows a painting
entitled 'Le Blute-Fin Mill', by Vincent van Gogh.
The newly authenticated Van Gogh has gone on display
35 years after an art collector bought it in Paris, convinced
it was painted by the famed Dutch master but never able to prove
it.
Louis van Tilborgh, curator of research at the Van
Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, said the painting was unusual for the
19th century impressionist, depicting large human figures in a
landscape. The painting shows Parisians climbing wooden stairs
to a windmill in the Montmartre district in Paris .
