Devon Bott & the Cruel Cuts Band
How to Store and Care for Old Video Tapes

.....This weeks featured video is of Devon Bott and his Cruel Cut band performing the song “Not Perfect” This is one of the few videos that I, Matt Capps make a rare on line appearance.

.....Many people have e-mailed me and asked about the music I use on several of my original videos. Because of copy write infringements all of the music I use in my videos must be copy write free, and I must have the permission of the person who wrote and recorded the music.

.....Any video that I put up on you tube that does not meet this requirement, the audio gets taken out. Much to my surprise the big music companies actually pay people to watch on line videos for songs that they own.

.....If you like any of the music that is used in my videos you can buy a copy of the Cruel Cuts album on CD. Just send me a e-mail and ask for the Cruel cuts music.

.....When you are in the act of recording video, you’re probably not thinking about what to do with that footage 20 years from now. The reality is that your tapes and film can start degrading in as little as 5 years, usually because of poor video storage techniques.

.....The first thing to understand is that videotape was never designed to be a long-term storage solution. It was primarily designed to be easy to use and easy to copy. The good news is that with proper storage you can extend videotape life (by years... not decades).

How to Store Your VHS and other Video Tapes

· Do not open the cassette or touch the tape unless it is an absolute necessity.
· Do not let the temperature regularly exceed 70 degrees Fahrenheit
· Do not let the humidity exceed 20 to 30%
· Avoid storing your video tapes in a room with southern exposure
· Keep tapes in their cases when not in use.
· Label tapes as soon as they are out of the camcorder.

.....While there are many factors that contribute to the longevity of a video tape most experts agree that the life span is 8-12 years. However as time passes tapes continue to degrade. Experts recommend transferring your tapes to digital within the five years. I can Transfer tapes to DVD for very little cost.

.....Don’t let your video memories fade away into oblivion. Save your video today so that future generation can see for them selves.

The Bone Yard
Alligator VS. Snake

.....Davis monthan Air Force Base near Tucson Arizona also known as the Bone Yard is the largest collection of military aircraft in the world. Some say it’s the 3rd largest air force in the world.
.....Immediately after World War II, the Army's San Antonio Air Technical Service Command established a storage facility for B-29 and C-47 aircraft at Davis-Monthan AFB. Today, this facility is the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (309 AMARG), which has grown to include more than 4,400 aircraft and 13 aerospace vehicles from the Air Force, Navy-Marine Corps, Army, Coast Guard, and several federal agencies including NASA.
.....Before planes are put into boneyards, they have to be stripped. Most electronics, munitions, and wiring gets taken off to be recycled or to be kept in warehouses. These may serve as replacement parts for planes that are still flying or may be used for reconditioning if and when the planes are called back into active duty. These parts along with the stripped planes may be sold to other countries.
.....Depending on the demands of the U.S. Air Force or for commercial purposes, a plane or a whole squadron of them may be put back into active duty.
.....Pictures of the Bone Yard are very impresive.

You can see more pictures of the bone yard at this link.

Bite off more than you can chew.

In this photo provided by the Everglades National Park, the carcass of a six-foot American alligator is shown protruding from the mid-section of a 13-foot Burmese python in Everglades National Park, Fla., after the snake apparently swallowed the alligator resulting in the deaths of both animals.

The stomach of the python still surrounded the head, shoulders, and forelimbs of the alligator.

Hear is another picture of this python/alligator thing. I must say this snake had some real ambition. You know the snake probably won this fight. If he just would of not ate the whole thing.
